When a patient’s symptoms become so severe that they can no longer be managed at home, Angels Grace Hospice provides General Inpatient Care. With inpatient care in a hospital setting, medical professionals are available around the clock to provide more intensive nursing. Patients benefit from experienced inpatient hospice providers dedicated to listening to patients and family. If friends and family are not always able to visit or care for their loved one, our compassionate hospice care team serves as an advocate for patient and family.

Angels Grace Hospice provides inpatient hospice care services to patients in a facility, which may be a hospital, nursing home or long-term care facility.  Patients may begin to receive hospice care in any of these settings or in their own home once determined eligible for hospice.  Inpatient care may be required if the patient’s needs change and they require more intensive nursing intervention.

Some indications that a patient may require inpatient care may include:

  • Frequent medication adjustment to control symptoms
  • Uncontrollable seizure, agitation or restlessness
  • Sudden deterioration of condition requiring more intensive care
  • Stabilization of uncontrollable pain, nausea or vomiting
  • Chronic or acute symptom management that cannot be provided at home
  • The need for intravenous medications with close monitoring for symptom relief
  • Complex wound care requiring frequent dressing changes that cannot be managed at home
  • Minor procedures to aid patient comfort such as draining fluid or inserting a drain tube

Angels Grace Hospice provides inpatient hospice care services and will work with your physician to help manage pain and symptoms.

General Inpatient Hospice Care

When a patient’s symptoms become so severe that they can no longer be managed at home, Angels Grace Hospice provides General Inpatient Care.  With inpatient care in a hospital setting, or skilled nursing facility, medical professionals are available around the clock to provide more intensive nursing. Patients benefit from experienced inpatient hospice providers dedicated to listening to patients and family.  If friends and family are not always able to visit or care for their loved one, our compassionate hospice care team serves as an advocate for patient and family.

Patients entering inpatient hospice care may face an emotional toll along with family members dealing with the end of life of a loved one.  Angles Grace Hospice helps families during this difficult time with a whole team approach to support patient and family.  We bring comfort, dignity, and peace to those with a life-limiting illness, committed to making a difference with quality of life.

Temporary Inpatient Hospice and Respite Care

There are times when inpatient hospice care in a hospital, or skilled nursing facility, is required temporarily to control severe pain and symptoms, with the goal being to return the patient to their home and familiar surroundings.  Angels Grace Hospice provides compassionate hospice care during short-term inpatient stays.

Respite care is another level of hospice care for short term, hospice care to relieve family members or primary caregivers.  Respite hospice care is helpful to families when caregivers need to take a vacation or just need help. Caregivers can feel overwhelmed when caring for a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or any terminal illness and forgo their own personal wellness.

Families and caregivers should take advantage of receiving skilled hospice respite care whenever possible with Medicare covering up to five consecutive days on an occasional basis. Respite care can be provided in the home or at an inpatient facility.
